What to Expect
We start off with a case history, that helps us determine the patient’s condition and the indications for treatment. During a treatment practitioners will also gather palpatory information, which aids in purposing the treatment to your individual needs. Depending on our discovery findings we will recommend a follow-up appointment with a specific practitioner that will meet your individual treatment needs.
Exercise Therapy, Personal Training and Program Design
Based on our Therapist’s assessment and treatment, your unique injuries are taken to a meeting where our team gives our collective input on your case. Our Trainers then come up with the best training plan to help you fix your concerns effectively. We are passionate about fixing injuries and helping you find solutions to all your injuries whether sports-related, acute or chronic.
The exercises prescribed can be performed as part of a home exercise program. The exercises aim to stretch short muscles, strengthen weak muscles and assist muscles to work together in a coordinated fashion to improve performance and function.
If you wish to work with someone 1-on-1 to ensure that you are performing correctly, a Trainer is available in our very own exercise room to take you through your rehabilitation program.
Massage therapy
Massage therapy can help the recovery of injured and overused muscles and tissues in the body. In addition, Massage Therapy can complement other forms of therapy including chiropractic care, physiotherapy and acupuncture by quickening the recovery process and preventing future re-injury.
Benefits:
- Relieving muscle tension
- Reducing pain and inflammation
- Increasing blood circulation
- Speeding up healing of injured tissues
- Providing greater flexibility and joint range of motion
- Stimulating neural connections to your tissues
Relaxation Massage
We use a variety of hands-on techniques to manipulate soft tissues in your body (muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissues) to provide therapeutic relief, decrease your pain and optimize your health with a lighter touch.
Deep tissue Massage
A deep tissue massage targets deep muscles and tendons, as well as fascia, the protective and connective tissues. The intention is to relax the superficial muscles and once the tension is released, it allows the deeper muscles to be massaged or manipulated. A deep tissue massage works to break down adhesions within the deep tissue, restore blood flow and realign your body’s structure and joints.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a form of massage therapy with the addition of heated stones, which helps lead to deep relaxation. Adding heat to specific areas on the body enhances the feeling of relaxation. The penetrative effect of the heated stones allows massage treatment to be delivered without excessive force.
We use IATSM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) which allows precision us to specifically target problem areas. IASTM is effective when treating dysfunctions of the superficial fascia, scar tissue and fibrosis, which then allows a deep tissue massage to be more effective.
We also use Cupping Therapy which is completely safe and works by using suction, drawing body tissues towards the surface of the skin. This mechanism can help increase local circulation, improve lymphatic flow, and relax muscles and trigger points.
Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave is a non-invasive treatment involving quick bursts of high-energy pulses that are transmitted into injured tissues. These pulses of energy target the injured tissues (muscles, tendons, bone, etc.) at a cellular level, which stimulates the tissue healing response. Shockwave therapy treats many injuries and disorders as well as accelerates healing without producing scar tissue.
Benefits:
- Increase local blood flow
- Break down scar tissue and adhesions
- Stimulate cellular repair and tissue healing
